The Gathering Storm

Monday

We just watched the 2002 movie, The Gathering Storm, starring Albert Finney. It is worth watching. Here was a man (Winston Churchill) who could see what was coming and was trying to warn people, but very few people wanted to hear it. Everybody had been so traumatized by the scale of the horror of the first World War, they didn't want to contemplate anything that made them feel another war was possible. He was harshly criticized, ignored, and accused of being a warmonger.

We felt strangely comforted by the movie. Of course, in the case of World War Two, we already know Churchill was right. Hitler was, in fact, rejecting the Treaty of Versailles and building an army. He did, in fact, have military ambitions for his country. And it was, in fact, foolish for the rest of the global powers to be busy dismantling their military. But during Churchill's "wilderness years" he was almost alone in his alarm about what was happening.

The term "wilderness years" refers to the span between 1929 and 1939 when Churchill was warning people about the danger of Nazism, and the rest of the world was trying to find a way not to believe it. In other words, it was similar to what's happening now: We're trying to get through to others about Islam and our listeners are trying to find any way they can to not believe it.

Check out the movie. And you can read more about this trying time in Winston Churchill's life here: The Wilderness Years.

Austria Rejects Islam

Wednesday

The gates of Vienna are closing on orthodox Islam. The Austrian government has shut down seven mosques and is deporting 40 to 60 imams. The mosques are funded by a foreign government and the message being delivered in those mosques is not friendly to Austria. In other words, it's just Islam.

The Austrian Government has also banned immigrants from receiving any welfare for the first five years in the country.

Good for them. Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff is finally being heard. Let's hope this is just the beginning of sanity in the political halls of Europe. Check out some YouTube videos on this great news:

The Latest From The Counter Jihad Coalition

Friday

The following is a recent post by the CJC. We greatly admire what they're doing.

CJC had a great “Public Outreach” educating many people on the tenets of Islam. Thanks go out to Melissa, Pastors D and J, John, Linda, Norm and Paul for coming on out to spread the truth. For the most part, the crowd was very positive with many great comments and thanks.

There were the usual few young hecklers. One young man demanded proof to support what we were saying. Apparently he was not familiar with any Islamic doctrine because as soon as John opened up his Quran to show verses and Pastor J shared his first hand experiences, he quickly and quietly exited. They are fast to object, but then have no proof of their objections. This is a common situation with most all of the ones showing some objection.

Then a little while later two teenage girls took a couple of our brochures and tore them into pieces. Again neither said a word. What ever happened to good old debate?

These few negative encounters were far overwhelmed by the hundreds of people who thanked us for what we were doing. We continue to have our public outreach events all over. Plan to join in with us and spread the truth.

What Possible Good Does It Do To Say Anything Negative About Islam, Even If It's True?

Wednesday

One of the most important things we recommend is learn about Islam and share that information with your fellow non-Muslims.

But if you've ever tried to tell your friends about Islam, you've probably discovered most people don't want to hear it. They will sometimes argue with you even if they know nothing about it, and they don't understand why you would want to "bash" another religion.

But sharing this information is the best thing a citizen can do to help marginalize, discredit, and disempower orthodox Islam, which is the goal here. So the question is: How can you talk to people about a subject they don't want to talk about?

There is only one answer: First you must motivate them to listen.

Almost as a prerequisite for this topic, before you can really have a good listener, you will need to explain why it's important to know more about Islamic teachings. Most people you come across will literally not have a clue why you would even be interested, or why they should be.

So below are the top twelve reasons why it's a sane, rational, sensible goal to know more about Islam. When you start to talk about jihad or Sharia and you can see the resistance or suspicion on the face of your listener, ask them, "Are you wondering why I'm even interested in this?" If they are curious, let them know about one or two of the reasons below.

While you're reading the list here, pick out the ones you think would be the most effective, and make it a point to remember them for your next conversation:

1. Orthodox Muslims are immigrating to western democracies. From within our democracies, including the one we are living in, they are setting up terrorist cells right now. Their spokesmen are delivering fiery tirades at mosques and at demonstrations in our own country, calling the faithful Muslims to rise up against the infidels (you and me), telling the Muslims in their congregation it is their holy duty to overthrow the government and to establish Islamic law. They are recruiting native-born westerners into terrorist groups.
They are in free countries now, preaching hatred. And most western democracies allow more in all the time. Why? Because most westerners don't know much about Islam.

2. The devoted ones will perpetually try to change our laws, from within and from without. They have already done so in Europe and Canada, and all over the world. Islam is a political ideology. It is the duty of faithful Muslims to work toward making every government on earth follow Allah's law (Sharia law).

They are carefully following a 20-year plan to overthrow the U.S. government, and so far, they are succeeding. Why? Because most Americans don't know anything about Islam.

If westerners knew what was going on, they could resist it. But our ignorance makes their job very easy.

3. They are having more children than most of us. There are many ways to wage jihad and subjugate infidels. One is through violence. Another is through reproduction. You can out-reproduce the enemy, which Muslims have been doing. They are immigrating in large numbers into western democracies, and having as many children as they can, and teaching them to be devout Muslims.

Devout Muslims will try to turn any country they live into an Islamic state, no matter how long it takes. They have to. It is their religious duty to do so, whether they want to or not.

4. The teenage children of moderate Muslims are being persuaded by terrorist recruiters. Even if many of the Muslims who immigrate are authentically peaceful (ignore the political and intolerant teachings of orthodox Islam), some of their children will be vulnerable to recruitment as they see through the hypocrisy of their parents' incomplete worship.

The children of Muslims have heard all their lives from everyone in authority that the Koran is a direct message from the Almighty Himself. As teens, if they hear a preacher tell them what's actually in the Koran, they will be shocked. The Koran contains clear instructions to wage continual war on unbelievers until the whole world submits to Islamic law.

The teens will look at their parents and feel disgusted. Their parents — the ones who have told them repeatedly that the Koran is the perfect word of Allah — ignore much of the book.

So in other words, it wouldn't even matter if we could somehow screen Muslims who enter western democracies for fanaticism. Even if we only let in casual, half-hearted Muslims (peaceful Muslims), their children are potential "homegrown terrorists."

Plus, we cannot ignore the added benefit of dying while slaying infidels: You go straight to heaven, and have 72 beautiful wives ready to do your bidding. What 15 year-old boy wouldn't find that an attractive proposition?

All his life he's been told the Koran is Allah's message, and he finally reads it cover to cover (it's not very long) and discovers those preachers were right: It says quite clearly that if he dies while killing infidels he will go straight to heaven without passing GO, without having to be judged, and there, awaiting him, is his lovely harem.

It doesn't take any interpreting or "reading into" the Koran to know what it says. There are no vague analogies or stories open to multiple interpretations as there are in the Torah and the Bible. It is a clear, simple, direct message authored by one man. Anyone who reads it will know what to do.

5. Confusing current events become understandable. Once you learn what's really going on, the scary terrorist events that make you think, "Why are they doing this?!" are suddenly illuminated, and you know exactly why they're doing it, and why most westerners don't have a clue about what's going on.

You would think that learning about Islamic jihad would make you hate Muslims, but strangely enough, it does the opposite. Most Muslims are in an even worse situation than the infidels. The more you learn about Islam, the more sympathy you have for Muslims who had no choice in the matter and cannot escape without risking their lives and the lives of everyone they love.

But sometimes learning about the subject is upsetting. It is a shock to learn what's in the Koran, knowing that one and a half billion human beings believe this is the final message from the supreme ruler of the universe.

But after you get over the shock, it makes world events less upsetting. You will understand what's going on for the first time. You will no longer feel as exasperated or wonder what the hell is happening in this crazy world. You'll finally understand.

Of all the benefits of learning about Islam, this is probably the one that had the most impact on me. Political events that have been happening since I can remember — the hostage situations and hijacked planes and bombings all seemed so unnecessary and confusing. And you can watch the news all day and get no clarity whatsoever about why these things are happening and what they all have to do with each other. It's a relief to finally comprehend the bigger picture.

6. You can help your fellow westerners understand. This is a nice benefit of learning about orthodox Islam. Your understanding can help you shed some light and help eliminate the confusion you see in the people you know. It is a gift to the people you know to calm their confused minds. It is a valuable service you can provide your fellow citizens.

7. Your education is more well-rounded. Most of us have some knowledge about Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. We've heard quotes by their founders, we know some of what they teach, we know a little of their history, etc. But almost every westerner is ignorant of the most basic teachings of Islam.

So if you're interested in being a generally well-rounded, educated citizen — even if you didn't care about terrorism or world events — you should want to learn about Islam.

In addition, of course, is the fact that almost all the armed conflicts in the world today involve Muslims in one way or another. And almost all terrorism is Islamic and fundamentally motivated by the teachings of Islam, as the terrorists themselves tell us proudly.

8. Your vote on this issue is important. If you vote, you are helping to elect representatives and leaders who make legal and political decisions, like how to change the immigration policies, and who to prosecute for trying to overthrow the government. When you understand more about Islam and its relationship to terrorism, you will be able to know which leaders have a grasp on this subject and which do not, and vote accordingly.

9. It is interesting. Once you get over your initial uncomfortable feelings about the subject, you'll find much to hold your interest. Do you know, for example, why Osama bin Laden chose September 11th as the day of his attack on America? Because the last high-water mark of Islam occurred in 1683 on September 11th.

Islam had expanded and conquered for centuries, and was finally stopped at the gates of Vienna when 40,000 soldiers arrived just in time to stop the Muslim siege of the city.

Islam's spread had been repressed by superior military force ever since then. Their dominance had been receding since that day. But the new resurgence has set out to finish the goal (Islamic world domination), so they chose September 11th to kick off the new era.

Before I started learning about Islam, I didn't know about the gates of Vienna. I didn't know why the Crusades happened. I didn't know why Middle Eastern countries have seemed so dead-set on destroying Israel. I didn't know what the hijacking of planes and the holding of hostages was all about when I was a kid. I have learned so much, and a lot of it has been very interesting.

10. Knowledge can immunize us. Have you ever gotten what looks like an official email from Amazon or PayPal, asking you for account information? Those who don't know this kind of thing can happen are vulnerable to giving away their personal account information to a criminal.

The email usually says something like, "There has been a problem with your account and we need you to update your account information." And they provide a link. When you follow the link, it looks every bit like the official web site. If you give your information, you just gave your money to a scam artist.

If you know about this, if you've heard of the scam, you are immune to it. If you want to check it out just in case, you will not use their link. You will type "amazon.com" or "paypal.com" into your browser and go check your account to see if anything is really wrong.

With that little bit of knowledge, you avoided a major catastrophe. Knowledge makes the difference.

It is exactly the same with knowing about Islam. Once you have a pretty good grasp of what's going on, you are less afraid, less paranoid, and less vulnerable to the tricks orthodox Muslims use to fool ignorant westerners. If enough of us are educated, they will find their plans thwarted at every turn.

If you don't know about Islam, you will not be able to tell the difference between orthodox and heterodox Muslims, so you will have to either distrust them all (which isn't cool) or trust them all (which would be stupid). Educate yourself and you won't have this dilemma.

11. Your survival is at stake. I know that sounds very dramatic and rabble-rousing, but it is quite literally true. All the different factions of orthodox Muslims have a single goal in mind: Islamic dominance of the world. They didn't make this up. They didn't "interpret" their holy book that way. They didn't have to guess. That is what it says, directly and clearly.

These people are not joking. This is not a casual hobby for them. They have dedicated their lives to it. And oil-rich Islamic governments are pouring money into the project.

They won't stop. This war has gone on for 1400 years, and as far as they're concerned, it will go on for another 1400 years, or as long as it takes to win. They are completely dedicated. They are gaining the advantages of new technologies. They are well-funded. They are highly passionate and dedicated, and literally willing to sacrifice their lives to kill even a few of us.

They are actively seeking advanced weapons and are perfectly willing to use them on infidels. It is entirely possible they could gain control of a nuclear or biological weapon.

I don't know how the West will ultimately prevail, but I know this: Until enough of us face and understand what we're up against, we don't have a chance. Cheerful obliviousness will always be easily defeated by grim determination.

12. You'll be ahead of your time. In the future, everyone will know about Islam, either because the whole world will have submitted to Islamic law, or because enough of us learned about it ahead of time and successfully defended ourselves against it. Either way, by learning about it now, you are one of the elite few, the vanguard of a new era.

THOSE ARE THE TWELVE most important reasons someone should want to know about Islam. When you begin sharing something about Islam with someone you know, and you see their eyes start to glaze over, or you see that look in their eyes that seems to say, "Are you some kind of nut?" ask them this question:

"Are you wondering why
I'm even interested in this?"

They will probably nod their head. Then you can share with them why you think it's important. Let them know what's at stake and why this is a fascinating subject to learn about. Once they're motivated, you can then go on with what you wanted to tell them in the first place.

These one-on-one conversations you have with your friends are the first and most important step in the process of halting and reversing the increasingly dangerous spread of orthodox Islam. People need to be educated, one conversation at a time.

We should not be casual about this or approach it in a leisurely way. Right now Islamic terrorists are organizing cells within the borders of your country. Right now they are building mosques and preaching hatred and the overthrow of your government. Right now they are immigrating to your country and having as many babies as possible.

But even after someone understands why it is important to know about Islam, you will probably get a second layer of resistance. Why?

Educated people in western democracies have a particularly hard time dealing with a conversation that says something negative about another culture or religion. That is almost entirely a good thing. But not entirely. In this case, an exception should be made because westerners are very unfamiliar with Islam. They don't have any idea what the Koran says its believers should do, and even when they hear someone (like a terrorist) quote the Koran, they assume it must be wrong somehow.

When a form of worship is killing non-Muslims, it is a good idea to make an exception to a blind rule about religious tolerance. When a belief system is intolerant of other belief systems and works to suppress them, it should not be tolerated.

Most westerners make the assumption that all religions are basically alike. And we have a deep-seated respect for other cultures and the right of everyone to believe what they want. We have a profound distrust of any hint of arrogance or any feelings of superiority of our own culture. It is almost at the level of a taboo.

This distrust is healthy. It's one of the reasons we are able to have such a rich, diverse society with people of all kinds getting along with each other.

So most westerners feel pretty strongly that everybody has a right to believe what they want. And they've been told repeatedly that Islam is a religion of peace. That is the source of the second layer of resistance you may get. It's important to know what mindset you're talking to.

A third layer of resistance to talking about orthodox Islam is the obvious fact that it's a scary and upsetting subject. This makes it somewhat of a unwelcome topic for normal conversations. This ugly, scary quality is compounded by the fact that most people don't think they can do anything about it. Feeling helpless intensifies the feeling of anxiety.

And there is yet a fourth layer of resistance, which is perhaps the most fundamental: People don't want to believe Islam is a warlike religion because if it's true, it seems to imply we will have to go to war with all of Islam to defend ourselves, and that is almost unthinkable. The idea is enough to frighten the most courageous infidel. Go to war with 1.5 billion people?

But of course, learning there are some basic things in the religion of Islam that make it incompatible with modernity or democracy doesn't necessarily mean war with all of Islam is inevitable.

First of all, many, maybe even most — Muslims would like to ignore the violent parts of the Koran, and many of them have been and are now at war with the more orthodox Muslims. The conflicts in Algeria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Pakistan, and Egypt, to name just a few, are mostly modern-thinking Muslims at war with fundamentalist Muslims.

So even if an all-out war were necessary, it would not be against all the world's Muslims. Not even close.

But besides that, the "war" that really needs to take place is in the minds of our fellow westerners. Once we are well-versed on Islam, certain precautions will become obvious and will go a long way toward protecting us from danger (such as changing our immigration and sedition laws).

Just as the knowledge of Amazon or Paypal scams simply and easily avoids what could be a financial nightmare, knowledge of Islam can go a long way toward simply and easily avoiding the nightmare of the destruction of non-Islamic governments.

Fear of the implications of a fact is not a legitimate reason to avoid talking about a fact anyway, but I thought I would mention it because the fear may well be lurking in the mind of the person you're talking to and make them resistant to hearing anything bad about Islam.

But once you can get over these hurdles and broach the subject, so much can be said that ultimately makes us stronger and less confused. It is worth the trouble.

It is important that you help make the person interested in the subject. Try to make it interesting and don't try to play up the scariest parts unless you feel you have to. Learn more about being a good conversationalist if you need to. This is important work, and we should do it wholeheartedly.

It can do a lot of good indeed to say something negative about Islam, if it is done the right way. Memorize the list of reasons above, motivate your listeners to hear your message, and then tell them what you know. Your skill and determination in doing this work can prevent immense suffering and ultimately save lives.

Religious Freedom? Or Oppression in the Name of Tolerance?

Saturday

A reporter working for a newspaper in Sweden posed as a Muslim mother of a preschool-aged girl and called forty schools asking if the teachers would help make sure her daughter wore her headscarf at school. Two thirds of them said yes, and some even offered to take videos of the girl for proof of compliance.

A writer for a Swedish newspaper was rightfully outraged by this and made a very good argument against such compliance. The national curriculum for Sweden says that all preschools must be guided by the principles of "individual freedom, integrity, and gender equality." The author wondered if making a girl wear a headscarf violates those principles since it is not merely a garment, but a "symbol of women's submission to men."

The writer insisted that Sweden needs to have a national conversation about "where the limits of religious freedom lie."

And this, I thought, was the Swedish writer's pithiest statement: We can't allow "oppression in the name of tolerance."

Absolutely. This is now a top issue in every free country, being forced to the top by the immigration of so many Muslims. Dealing with this issue, or even bringing it up, has been labeled "xenophobia." But it isn't foreigners in general, but followers of Islamic doctrine that are forcing us to resolve an important ethical conflict. The sooner we resolve it, the better.

If the Majority of Muslims Are Peaceloving People, Do We Really Have Anything to Worry About?

Wednesday

On one side of the debate, we have people who say, "The majority of Muslims are peaceloving people." The implication is that because of this, we can all just relax, because the growing presence of Muslim people in our midst is not a problem. On the other side, we have people who say Islam is a totalitarian, aggressive ideology that has already made inroads into Western countries with the aim of usurping our governments and replacing our laws with Sharia.

It's possible both sides are correct. Let me explain.

First of all, I think everyone can agree that there are a few dedicated jihadists who commit violence in the name of Islam. They are not "peaceloving people" by anyone's definition but their own. They may think of themselves as peaceloving because they think that once the whole world has submitted to the rule of Islam, the world will be at peace. But the methods they use to achieve that peace are car bombs, beheadings, and flying planes into buildings.

There are also a number of Muslims committed to forcing Sharia law on the world by rioting and the threat of riots. These are the ones who protest and riot when a Danish cartoonist publishes cartoons about Muhammad, for example. The ensuing riots killed 187 people. It is a violation of Muslim morality to draw Muhammad or to criticize him, and the violence intimidated many others in Western democracies into restraining themselves from re-publishing those cartoons, and in this way, the threat of violence enforced Sharia law on Western democracies.

The same thing happened with Draw Muhammad Day on Facebook, and with the pastor who burned a Koran. The violence and threat of violence by Muslims around the world affected the behavior of people in free countries, curtailing their freedom. The end result is the enforcement of Sharia law in Western democracies — not by changing what is written in the lawbooks, but by scaring people into doing what orthodox Muslims insist non-Muslims must do.

The people doing the rioting may, in fact, be "peaceloving people" in their daily lives in the opinion of everyone who knows them. It could be argued that everyone has a breaking point; anyone can lose their temper if the offense is great enough, and perhaps they love their Prophet or their Koran so much, that criticizing him or burning it was just too much for them to stand, so they went berserk, but really they are just normal, peaceloving Muslims in the rest of their lives.

Another sizable percentage of Muslims are dedicated to legally and nonviolently gaining concessions for Islam within Western democracies. They are pressing for halal food in public schools, pressing for Islamic limits on free speech (pressing for censorship in the media so Islam is never criticized — see some examples here). They are doing it in individual countries, and they're also doing it at the UN. The Organization of the Islamic Conference is the largest voting block in the UN and they are putting pressure on the rest of the countries to impose worldwide limits on free speech — the kind of limits Islamic law demands.

All these people working for the legal imposition of Sharia law may very well be peaceloving people.

A very large percentage of Muslims do not protest against the violent ones. Silence implies consent, usually, but they may keep silent out of fear. The violent ones are, of course, capable of violence, and peaceloving people could be afraid to speak out in protest against such violence in the name of Islam. And they may not feel that they have an ideological leg to stand on since the violence is sanctioned by Islamic doctrine and protesting against that violence is prohibited by it.

Another large percentage pay their zakat — it is a mandatory tithe to the mosque. This money is often used for charity (to help Muslims, according to Sharia law, and never to help non-Muslims). This money also sometimes goes to fund jihad. The people paying the zakat may be considered peaceloving people by most standard definitions.

Another group of Muslims are creating avenues for "Sharia finance," which also gives a certain percentage of that money to Islamic charities, some of which also fund jihad. Those who put their money in Sharia financial institutions or pay the fees could be peaceloving people, even though they are, wittingly or unwittingly, helping to finance the killing or subjugation of non-Muslims.

A sizable percentage of Muslims, according to polls, wish to have some measure of Sharia law, including things like Islamic limits on free speech and the death penalty for apostates (Muslims who leave Islam). In some places, a majority of the Muslims feel this way. But they do not commit any violence themselves and would be considered by many as peaceloving people.

When Muslims immigrate to Western democracies, they often form "enclaves" — whole areas where primarily Muslims live. The larger the number of Muslims in the area, the more hostile some of them are to the non-Muslims living there, so those non-Muslims move away. More and more Muslims move to the area until it becomes, for all intents and purposes, a small Muslim state within a Western democracy.

These enclaves are creating "no-go zones" where legitimate law-enforcement officers are reluctant to go, or where legitimate government authorities bend to the Muslims' demands (for fear of violent reprisals). There are more enclaves and no-go zones in Western democracies with every passing year in Sweden, France, Germany, and many other European countries.

Wherever Muslims gain a sizable minority, the most dedicated among them begin pushing for local manifestations of Sharia law.

But it would probably be correct to say that most of the people who move to a Muslim enclave from a Muslim country are peaceloving people. They are just families who are moving to an area where they have relatives, and they want nothing more than to raise their children and be happy.

Let us assume they don't know much about Islamic doctrine, and even if they do, they choose to quietly ignore the violent or political parts of it. They are still unwittingly helping to accomplish Islam's prime directive in many ways — they are helping those who are actively trying to convert Western democracies into Islamic states — even if they don't mean to.

Muslims around the world have lots of children. Some of them immigrate to Western democracies and go on welfare, so the raising of their children is being paid for by the non-Muslim taxpayers. But most of these people are probably not violent. They raise their children, telling them that they are Muslims and that the Koran is the word of Allah, but they don't explain to their children the political mandates of Islamic doctrine.

When the kids become teenagers, some of them are susceptible to recruitment by the more orthodox (politically active or violent) Muslims because the teenager has already been primed — a primary identity they have is "I am a Muslim" and the recruiter only has to say, "read your Koran and discover your obligations." And so we see that second-generation Muslims in Western democracies are more likely to become jihadists than their parents, even though their parents are peaceloving people. The young recruits may also be peaceloving at heart but feel pressured by the obligations Allah requires of them.

This is another way peaceloving Muslims are unwittingly helping jihadists accomplish their mission.

Another couple of groups I should mention are Muslim leaders and oil billionaires. There are quite a few prominent Muslim leaders who exhort their followers to pursue Islam's prime directive. These are not isolated leaders with little influence and few followers. These are heads of state and influencial people with huge numbers of followers (read more about them here).

And there are Muslim billionaires (primarily Saudi Wahhabis) who are pouring their money into building mosques and madrassas all over the world. They fund 90 percent of the world's Islamic institutions. Unfortunately, they are promoting Wahhabism, which is a branch of orthodox Islam — dedicated to jihad; dedicated to Islam's prime directive; dedicated to eliminating all democracies and establishing Islamic law for all people. This is not as impossible as it sounds. The world is far more Islamic today than it was even 20 years ago.

These oil billionaires have built and maintain most of the mosques in the United States and Canada, for example, and 80 percent of these mosques are actively promoting jihad (read more about that here). Promoting the violent overthrow of the government by jihad or any other means is against the law, but it is overridden by the protection of religious freedom. Because the jihad they preach is not extraneous to their religious teachings, but inherent in them, freedom of religion has protected them.

The oil billionaires and the Muslim leaders may have never done anything violent in their lives, and may only want a peaceful Islamic world, so they may be "peaceloving people" by most peoples' definitions.

One final idea we should consider is that it doesn't take a majority to cause serious trouble, which means that if the majority of Muslims are peaceful, it would be irrelevant (read more about that here).

So let's get back to our original question: If the vast majority of Muslims are peaceloving people, do non-Muslims really have anything to worry about?

Yes we do.

The Good Must Associate: Key Strategies in the Counterjihad Movement

Monday

To prevail against orthodox Islam's relentless encroachment, we need to employ three essential strategies: gather allies, coordinate our efforts, and concentrate our forces at decisive points. Let me explain these in more detail:

1. Gather allies.
A large number of orthodox Muslims are working toward Islam's prime directive. Obviously three counterjihadists will not prevail against such a large, organized group. We need numbers. The more allies we have on our side, the greater our chances of winning.

If three of us demonstrate outside a mosque, and five hundred Muslims protest our demonstration, we will look like a small, unpopular fringe group and the Muslims will look like the mainstream majority opinion. This kind of thing has a psychological impact on anyone watching this on television because of the principle of social proof. But if five hundred Muslims demonstrate and ten thousand counterjihadists protest their demonstration, it sends an entirely different message to anyone watching on television or participating in the demonstration. Numbers count.

That's why it is so crucial to educate people about Islam. We need more people on our side.

Many Citizen Warrior readers took to heart the article, Facebook Allies, and applied the principle, and it made a difference. The purpose of the article was to solve a problem counterjihadists were having on Facebook — they would share something about Islam, and their Facebook friends and family would gang up on them, arguing, criticizing them, and defending Islam. It was upsetting to a lot of counterjihadists. It made them feel isolated and alone. And to their friends and family, it made them look like factious, disaffected loners who needed to be straightened out by the "sensible majority."

So people went to counterjihad Facebook pages and read comments and posts, looking for allies, and friended them. Then when any of their allies posted something on their personal Facebook page about Islam, they would receive lots of support and "likes" and approving comments from their allies, and if one of their family members criticized it, their allies would jump in and defend it, and each ally does that for each other.

This feels a lot better, is much less upsetting, and has a greater impact on anyone reading. The original poster no longer appears as an isolated agitator, but rather has become a spokesperson for a popular, supported point of view. The key strategy at work here is gaining allies.

This is one of the reasons ACT! for America is such an important organization to the counterjihad movement. As Brigitte Gabriel says, when the ACT! for America lobbyist walks into a senator's office in Washington, D.C. she can say she represents an organization of almost a million voters, and that's enough to make a senator listen! If the lobbyist represented an organization of forty people, would a senator take the time to listen? Not likely. They are busy people. Numbers give clout.

2. Coordinate efforts.
If there were a hundred thousand active counterjihadists, but each worked on different projects, we wouldn't accomplish much. But if most of us worked on a few central projects, those projects would be much more likely to succeed.

That's what we did by writing to Councilwoman Deborah Pauly (see story here). She was vilified by Muslim groups and the media. She probably felt outnumbered, and for many people, that would make them hesitant to speak up again. On the other hand, if she heard from thousands of people who support her and encourage her, it could embolden her to continue her outspoken resistance to creeping Sharia. Coordinated efforts could make the difference.

3. Concentrate force at a decisive point.
This is where allies and coordination can have their greatest impact. In the book, How to Win on the Battlefield, the authors write, "The concentration of force was regarded by Clausewitz as the first and highest principle of war. He reiterated that, at the operational level, commanders had to concentrate maximum force, which in his day equated to all available troops, at the decisive point; it was essential to overwhelm and break the enemy physically and morally."

Many times in history, a military force was outnumbered and yet won the battle. Often it was because the principle of concentration of force does not require absolute superiority in numbers. It only requires a local superiority at a decisive point.

When women were fighting to gain the vote in the United States, for example, they had to get 36 states to ratify the Nineteenth Amendment to the Constitution. Women's suffrage organizations sent organizers from all over the country to the state that was considering the legislation at that moment, thus concentrating their forces at the decisive point.

That is what we must do. The big question for all of us is, of course, "What is the decisive point?" As Brian Tracy said in Victory: "Determining the right time and place requires a combination of judgment, timing," and good information (good "intel").

We're getting much better information now than we did at the beginning of the modern counterjihad movement, and we're getting it much faster. And through our formal and informal networks, we are collectively making good judgments on where to concentrate our forces. Some calls for action are shared far and wide, and some fizzle out, as each person essentially "votes" on the proposal (by either forwarding or deleting).

Our networks are getting bigger. Our numbers are growing. And we're getting more and more organized. It's time to look at strategy. We can each begin by deliberately applying the three principles above. When you're thinking about some event or thinking about potential actions you might take, ask yourself, "How can I apply the three key strategies to this situation?" It will give you effective ideas and ways to proceed.

Edmund Burke once wrote, "When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle."

So let us associate, let's organize, let's concentrate our forces, and let's win.

One of the most unusual articles on CitizenWarrior.com is Pleasantville and Islamic Supremacism.

It illustrates the Islamic Supremacist vision by showing the similarity between what happened in the movie, Pleasantville, and what devout fundamentalist Muslims are trying to create in Islamic states like Syria, Pakistan, or Saudi Arabia (and ultimately everywhere in the world).
