An Illogical Doctrine Based on Fear and Defended Through "Honor"

Saturday

Ali Sina, the former Muslim who runs Faith Freedom, wrote the following as part of an answer to a letter. You can read the whole exchange here. But what Sina says below is especially worth your attention:

Our responsibility is to awaken the non-Muslims and warn them of the danger of Islam. The danger comes from Islam and not the Middle Eastern people. Unlike Muslims, who discriminate, violate and abuse the human rights of non-Muslims, the Non-Muslims have difficulty with discrimination. However, they must understand that Islam is just a belief and beliefs do not have rights. Humans have rights, beliefs don’t.

...Muslims can become feral dogs if their religion is criticized. Savagery should not be tolerated. Those Muslims who choose to defend their religion with savagery should be locked up or kicked out. Dialogue should be welcomed, but there should be zero tolerance for violence.

Once dialogue begins, Islam will be discredited and Muslims will be set free. Once their source of pride becomes a source of shame, they will no longer cling to it but rather will be embarrassed of it and would want to dissociate themselves from it.

The Western culture is guilt based. The Eastern culture is shame based. For us Easterners, everything is about image and how others see us.

The opposite of guilt is innocence. If your ethos is guilt based, you have an inner police that stops you from doing wrong because doing wrong makes you feel guilty.

If your ethos is shame based, all you care is to preserve your image. The opposite of shame is honor. You can do wrong but as long as no one sees it, your image is not tarnished and you can still be seen as an honorable person. In a shame based culture, wrong and right have no meaning. It is all about shame and honor. If the stain of shame is removed, even if it means the murder of your own daughter, honor is restored. These are two very different worldviews. Unless we understand them we will not be able to make sense of Muslims and their minds.

Shame based cultures are primitive. All Eastern cultures are shame based even when they are not Islamic. Japanese culture, for example, is, or it has been, a shame based culture. Our Persian culture is also shame based. Proverbs like “I keep my cheeks rosy with slaps,” are telltales of a shame based culture, where image is more important than facts. This proverb says that I may be starving but my pride does not allow me to let anyone know it so I slap myself to keep my cheek rosy. Because poverty is the source of shame as long as I hide my poverty, I have preserved my honor.

Islam is a fear based philosophy that has taken root in a shame based milieu. This is a very dangerous combination. When you combine fear and shame moral codes, you give birth to the most insidious ethos imaginable. That is Islam. Islam is an illogical doctrine that is based on fear and is defended through honor. This makes Islam more dangerous than Nazism. Muslims are not concerned about the irrationality of Islam or about good or evil. They are mostly concerned about losing face and upholding the image of Islam.

Talk to People About Muhammad's Hatred of Dogs

Thursday

We received an email from a reader with a worthy suggestion. He wrote the following:

When we talk to people about Islam, we should talk about Mohammed's hatred of dogs because they are a common pet and we can make sure people accept facts. Here is a transcript of a recent conversation I had with a dog owner.

Me: Nice day isn't it?
Owner: Yes it is.
Me: Is that your dog?
Owner: Yes.
Me: What is your dog's name?
Owner: (reveals dog's name).
Me: I think I know why dogs are called man's best friend. They are loyal to a fault.
Owner: Yes they are known to be man's best friend.
Me: It's a shame that the sentiment of dogs being man's best friend isn't universal. I hear that in some countries such as Iran that dogs are forbidden.
Owner: That's surprising to hear that there are countries which ban dogs.
Me: It goes back 1400 years ago in the Middle East to a man named Mohammed who didn't like dogs very much. He considered them unclean and evil — so much so that he declared all dogs to be evil and now they are forbidden.
Owner: Wow it's amazing that a man's hatred of dogs 1400 years ago would become the hatred of dogs shared by his followers.
Me: Of course not all Muslims hate dogs but given how seriously some take their ideology it was only a matter of when — not if — that dogs would be hated just for being dogs.

So far I have not met any resistance from people when I tell them this story and I figured that everyone who wants to tell the truth should start with Mohammed's hatred of dogs as many people own a dog and it would be a good topic for conversation.

Editor's comment: You could add that it says 91 times in the Koran that Muslim's should follow Muhammad's example in all things.

Dividing and Conquering

Monday

We are making ourselves easier to conquer by dividing ourselves into two opposing camps — liberal and conservative. It is a self-defeating division. Many liberals understand the problem of Islam and many conservatives do not.

More conservatives than liberals understand it, but does that mean conservatives should reject all liberals as allies? It doesn't make any sense. More brown haired people than blonds understand that Islam is a threat. Should blonds be rejected, ridiculed, or categorically dismissed because some blonds don't get it? Too many counterjihad information sources are also counterliberal, insulting and alienating liberals from this important cause.

Not all liberals are part of the problem. And some conservatives are. Let's not divide ourselves that way. It only serves the enemy. Let's aim for unity against this shared threat.

As Bill Warner recently said in an introduction to his Politics of Extinction video:

In a war you don’t need friends, you need allies. This distinction is important, because you have to like a friend, but you don’t need to like an ally. Under the threat of annihilation we need to see that all Kafirs are in the same boat. All of those threatened with extinction are Kafirs. Politics makes strange bedfellows, so atheist, Protestant, Buddhist and every other flavor of Kafir must work together to survive.

In Muhammad's day, his enemies didn't unite against the Muslims while they could. They squabbled with each other and Muhammad added rumors to help them distrust one another, allowing the Muslims (who were far outnumbered) to defeat the non-Muslims. We should avoid a repetition of history. We should unite against the Islamic ideology, and we should do it now.

Intro to Islam: A Primer for Puzzled Progressives

Announcing the release of a refreshingly candid, politically incorrect book for liberals who are ready to learn the truth about Islam, from one of their own. The following was written by The Savvy Kafir (the author of the new book):

Tired of seeing clueless left-wingers defending Islam, tooth-and-nail?

Me too!

Tired of seeing the mainstream media vilify anyone who dares to speak the truth about Islam?

Me too!

Are you mystified by self-righteous liberals who zealously aid & abet Islam in a bizarre, suicidal program of political correctness?

Me too! And I’m a progressive myself. But I’m also a dyed-in-the-wool “Islamophobe” who wants to see his fellow Lefties wake up to the threat that Islam poses to democracy, free speech, freedom of the press, women’s rights, and other essential human rights, before it’s too late.

The Savvy Kafir’s Intro to Islam dispenses with political correctness in the interest of honesty and common sense, and a passionate concern for the welfare of free, democratic societies. The author pulls no punches in his candid appraisal of the world’s fastest-growing religion — braving the wrath of tender-hearted Muslims and PC liberals alike.

The first edition is just $5.99, and is available in the Kindle format from Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZK84UEE ... and in the ePUB format (for pretty much any device except the Kindle) direct from the Savvy Kafir, at https://SavvyKafir.selz.com.

Not ready to cough up the six bucks just yet? The introductory chapter can be viewed on the Savvy Kafir website here: Your Digital Wake-Up Call.

The first edition includes 4 bonus chapters from forthcoming books. Get ‘em while they’re free! (Sort of.)

Any assistance that webmasters, bloggers, podcasters, YouTubers, Facebook aficionados, & Twitter enthusiasts can provide in promoting this timely & much-needed ebook is greatly appreciated! My hope is that Islam-curious liberals visiting the websites & blogs of cultural counter-jihadis will discover Intro to Islam, where they’ll get the straight dope on this alien ideology, from someone who shares much of their political worldview — from a progressive writer whose perspective they might be inclined to trust.

This is one issue on which liberals and conservatives should stand united against a common enemy — against people promoting a worldview that is radically different from our own, and inherently hostile to everything we believe in.

Thank you for your time, and any support you can lend to this project.

Sincerely,

The Savvy Kafir

Being Willing to Fight is the First Step

Friday

The anti-Islamization movement is full of fighters. Scrappers. People willing to confront scary facts. People willing to speak up, stand their ground, and do what's right. People who don't walk away from a fight because the odds are against them.

We are now in the process of collectively figuring out how to fight intelligently so we will prevail.

Enthusiasm is obviously not enough. And the fact that we're fighting on the side of truth and justice is not enough either. Plenty of times in history enthusiastic people fighting on the side of truth and justice were annihilated.

The first wave of the first Crusade has an instructive lesson for us all. The Pope had made the plea to the European Christian world to come to the aid of their besieged fellow Christians in Turkish Anatolia. A preacher called Peter the Hermit rode from town to town on his donkey speaking to crowds and exhorting them to defend Christianity from Islam. People joined in his cause and the group marched off to the Middle East. They had no real plan. They just knew something had to be done and by God, they were going to answer the call!

Most of those who followed Peter the Hermit were poor people with the crudest of weapons (I'm paraphrasing here from the excellent book, The New Concise History of the Crusades by Thomas F. Madden). Even women and children joined in the march across Europe to go fight the "enemies of Christ."

At the same time, another European group was forming to go fight. The two groups planned to meet at Constantinople and join forces before advancing to Anatolia. As separate groups, they marched across Hungary, Bulgaria and Greece.

Peter the Hermit's group arrived at Constantinople, but they didn't want to wait. They were ready to fight. The emperor of Constantinople tried to convince them to delay until the rest of the Crusaders arrived, but they were too eager, so without a plan and with very little experience and inadequate weapons, buoyed by their own belief in the rightness of their cause, they went off to war.

On the way to Anatolia, the French and German factions within Peter the Hermit's group started squabbling about what to do, and they split up. The German faction was overwhelmed by a professional Islamic army, and the entire German group was captured. Those who converted to Islam survived. The rest were executed.

The Muslims then sent a fake message to the French faction, leading them into an ambush and they were also annihilated.

We should not repeat this mistake. A fighting spirit is necessary, but insufficient to win. And the stakes are too high to be casual about this.

We are at war. Followers of Muhammad's example around the world are gaining recruits to make war on the non-Muslim world. Casualties in this war are mounting. Our own military branches have an important role to play, of course, but ordinary citizens have an important role too. And if we are going to win, we had better be smart. We're dealing with a very cleverly designed ideology that has effectively taken over a large part of the earth already and is now infiltrating every country in the world.

To fight this war successfully, we should use intelligent, extensively battle-tested strategies. For our purposes, these three are at the top of the list:

1. Gather allies
2. Coordinate efforts
3. Concentrate force at a decisive point

Read more about those here: The Good Must Associate.

We've been focusing here on Citizen Warrior on gathering allies — specifically, educating people about Islam in such a way that they join our side in this fight rather than turning against us and becoming unwitting allies of the enemy. At the very least, enough education should stop them from aiding the enemy. But hopefully we can bring them to our side.

This can be a very difficult task. We've been collecting tools that can help you here and common sense applies — you're not likely to be very successful, for example, by insulting people and telling them they're wrong. And you don't need to convert people to your side of the aisle to recruit them as an ally against the Islamization of the world.

We need allies so our coordinated efforts and concentration of force can have sufficient impact. That's where to focus our efforts in the immediate future (here's why). We need greater numbers.

We are already a group of scrappers, willing to fight. We can be glad for that. Now let's bring the fight to the enemy in the most intelligent way possible and win.

Are We Doomed? Is This Fight Hopeless?

Someone wrote to us and said: "I hope you found a petition site but I fear you may not, as I have noticed every site — even those that do not use hateful language — is shut down...England, France, Australia, and many other countries are on the verge of cultural collapse, and now in Dearborn MI they attack Christians. I think we are doomed to Islamic law. I do not think there is any hope. I will defend my Church if it is attacked but I feel in my heart the USA and England are lost. There is no hope because freedom of speech is one way: Say something to upset the world of Islam and the web page is shut down. I believe like the photo says but I give up."

I answered him with this:

Listen to me carefully. The fight is not lost. Not by a long shot. Non-Muslims still greatly outnumber Muslims and more non-Muslims are awakening to the situation all the time. Giving up now would be premature. We have a tough fight, but so did many others fighting for a just cause, like women getting the vote in America or Indians breaking free from British rule. Many times during those long struggles, it seemed hopeless, but it clearly was not.

Your feeling of hopelessness is caused by a mistake in your thinking. It is a mistake you don't know is a mistake. It may even be something you're proud of. But when you recognize what it is and why it is a mistake, your feeling of hopelessness will disappear and your fighting spirit will be restored.

I strongly recommend reading the book, Learned Optimism by Martin Seligman. Take the test included in the book. It will tell you exactly what kind of mistake you are making in your thinking and how to fix it.

I recommend this to all of us. If you find someone who learns about Islam but feels hopeless to do anything about it, urge them to read Seligman's book. It's not about positive thinking at all. It is about natural mistakes that commonly occur in the human brain.

Seligman's research has discovered six specific mistakes someone can make that will cause him or her to give up on a goal that is, in reality, achievable, and shows you how to eliminate that mistake from your thinking.

Read it yourself and learn it well, and you will be able help people restore their determination to stop Islam from fulfilling its prime directive. They won''t even have to read the book.

We cannot afford to lose people from this cause. Use the information to help keep our fellow citizen warriors in the fight.

Why All Non-Muslims Should Become Acquainted With Islamic Doctrine

Monday

If the detractors of the counterjihad dissidents are correct, the "extremists" are taking the violent passages from the Koran out of context and Islam is really a religion of peace.

If misreading Islamic doctrine was the actual cause of the world's Islam problem, the solution would be helping Muslims read the Koran and the rest of Islamic doctrine and understand it correctly. Or perhaps we could simply rely on basic human decency and treat Muslims well and they will reciprocate and we can all live in peace.

But those of us who are acquainted with Islamic doctrine understand that these responses couldn't possibly solve the problem because the core values and principles of Islamic doctrine itself include clear and unequivocal commands for Muslims to set aside their human compassion and force the rest of the world to submit to Islamic rule.

Helping Muslims read and understand their doctrines better would make the situation drastically worse. Even more Muslims would then become aware of their obligation to wage jihad on the non-Muslim world.

Even if we allowed only moderate Muslims, MINOs, or heterodox Muslims to immigrate into our countries, their offspring are susceptible to becoming orthodox (radical), so that solution wouldn't help much in the long run.

If more people were aware of the fundamental intolerance and violence of Islamic doctrine, it would be obvious that entirely different kinds of solutions to the problem would be necessary, like curbing Muslim immigration, preventing Muslims from being in military or security positions, cutting off money we are now giving to Muslim countries, etc.

It matters that people understand what's in Islamic doctrine because the solutions they propose or support will be entirely different, depending on their understanding.

Geert Wilders Shows Muhammad Cartoons on Dutch Television

Sunday

In the Netherlands, each of the different political parties are allotted a certain amount of time on Dutch television. Geert Wilders decided to use his allotted time to show Muhammad cartoons from the recent event in Garland, Texas. Before he showed the cartoons, he made a clear and powerful statement about freedom of speech.

You can see a YouTube video of the message Wilders played on Dutch television (2 minutes, 44 seconds long) here: Video Muhammad Cartoons - Geert Wilders (English subtitles).

Here's what Geert Wilders says in the video:

A few weeks ago, I was in Garland, Texas, at a conference and an exhibition of Muhammad cartoons. Shortly after I had spoken, a terrorist attack took place. Islam and the terrorists do not want us to show these cartoons. But terror and violence must never defeat freedom of speech. That is exactly the reason why we should do what the terrorists want to prevent us from doing.

I asked the Board of the Dutch Parliament if I could show the cartoons in their building. They refused. And yet it is very important that we show them. That is the only way to assure that the terrorists do not defeat freedom of speech. That is why I show them to you today.

"You can't draw me," says Muhammad.

"That's why I draw you," says Bosch Fawstin, the winner of the cartoon contest.

That says it all.

What is not allowed by Islam and by the violence of terrorists, we will do anyway.

And we call that: Freedom of speech.

I do not broadcast the cartoons to provoke; I do it because we have to show that we stand for freedom of speech and that we will never surrender to violence. Freedom is our birthright. Freedom of speech must always prevail over violence and terror.

Five Stages of Resistance to the Truth About Islam

Thursday

Think back to when it first really sank in that 1.6 billion people claim to be a member of a belief system that glorifies violence, that seethes with intolerance, and that claims to be a religion but the founder tortured and assassinated and beheaded people. Maybe it sunk in all at once in a big epiphany. Or maybe it sunk in slowly over several months.

I don't know about you, but my life is divided at that point (when the disturbing truth finally sunk in). Before that moment, I lived in an Age of Innocence. But my innocence was gone forever. It was a big loss and I fought it. It started with a few quotes here and there that indicated that the fundamental nature of Islamic doctrine was intolerant and violent and that the "terrorists" were not taking anything out of context.

At some point, I read Sword of the Prophet by Serge Trifkovic. It was an honest expose of Islamic doctrine and Islamic history. But still I didn't want to believe it. If this was true, I had to stop doing what I was planning on doing with my life, and deal with this instead. If it was true, it was too big and too important to ignore. And I didn't want to give up the goals I had my heart set on. If Trifkovic was right, it would change everything.

So I tried to see if he was right. I was hoping he was exaggerating. I checked out a bunch of pro-Islam books at the library, I read "Question and Answer" sections on pro-Islam websites, and I bought a Koran. Oddly enough, the thing that made the most impact on me was the pro-Islam writings. The books from the library were all sunshine and rainbows. Not one mention of Islam's position about Jews. Not one mention of Sharia. Not one mention of warfare. Islam was portrayed as a completely benign religion. But I already had a Koran and could easily find disturbing passages, so instead of reassuring me, it bothered me.

And the Question and Answer sections bothered me even more. Some of them directly answered the kind of questions I had: Is violence inherent in Islam? What does jihad mean? Are terrorists following Islam? Their answers were very weak. Depressingly weak. Sometimes they even quoted the Koran but it made me think, "Out of that whole book, this is the BEST you could come up with?"

It took a few months for me, but the more I looked into it, the more convinced I became that Trifkovic was correct. My life would never be the same.

The reason I'm talking about this is because one of the most important things ordinary (non-military, non-governmental) citizens can do to protect the free world from Islamization is to talk to our fellow non-Muslims about Islam. But when you do this, sometimes you will come up against intense resistance — far more intense than seems reasonable.

When I was reading about the five stages of grief, it occurred to me that there is a strong parallel, and I don't think it's a coincidence. It is a kind of grief. When you finally accept the reality of Islam, you lose something important. It will overturn your world and set you on a new course. Before that happens, you have an intuitive resistance. You don't want to lose your innocence. You don't want to lose your pleasant illusion. So you fight against the acceptance with unusual intensity, like the people did in Elie Wiesel's village. They didn't want it to be true (that Nazis were exterminating Jews), so they didn't listen. It would mean upending their whole life.

Resistance and denial are only the first stage. These are the classic five stages of grief:

1. Denial and Isolation

As the article I've linked to above says, at first people try to "deny the reality of the situation." That's what we're running into when we first talk to people about Islam. I think that's why the resistance is more intense than seems reasonable. As the PsychCentral article says, this denial response is "a normal reaction to rationalize overwhelming emotions. It is a defense mechanism that buffers the immediate shock. We block out the words and hide from the facts. This is a temporary response that carries us through the first wave of pain."

2. Anger

This is the next stage of the process. The denial fades and the reality starts showing its ugly head. The world has serious issue here: The problem of Islam. The emotion of anger is an attempt to fight against this painful realization. The person you are trying to educate may direct their anger at you, or at the government, or at the facts, but anger is what they feel.

3. Bargaining

Maybe if we were nice enough to Muslims this problem would go away. Maybe if we pulled all our troops out of the Muslim world, maybe if we gave them enough small concessions like welfare, polygamy, separate swimming pool times, or whatever, we could all just get along and we could go back to our regular lives and forget about this whole thing. Maybe hatred itself is the problem and we could just love our way out of it.

4. Depression

At this stage, the emotions become more appropriate to the real situation. It is depressing to realize that Muhammad created an ideology that infects the mind and that contains instructions for its own spread using any means necessary and that it has already taken over a large portion of the earth. If that isn't depressing, I don't know what is.

5. Acceptance

Finally it really sinks in all the way. And life needs to be re-organized to take this new reality into account. When someone finally arrives at acceptance, what begins to arise is the question, "What should I do now?" Is there anything that can be done about it? When you see someone reach this stage, let them know what can be done.

Elizabeth Kubler-Ross discovered that people who get a terminal diagnosis or lose a loved one almost always go through these five stages. And I think people who learn that an ideology with 1.6 billion adherents calls for the violent subjugation of the entire human population to a system of law most non-Muslims would call horrendous also go through these stages. That's a big piece of bad news to accept.

Think about this the next time you get resistance in your conversations. Take it slow. Think in terms of small bits and long campaigns. Use the tools available to help people get through these stages and make it to acceptance. And have some compassion for people who haven't gone as far as you have through these stages. It's a tough road for all of us.

Dissident

Wednesday

What should those who oppose political Islam and Sharia call themselves? Some call themselves counter-Sharia or counter-jihad. We need a better name.

Look carefully at how Islam actually expands its power. It is not the Muslims who actually do the work of Islamification. No, it is the Establishment media, schools, churches, government, and others who do the actual work. The Establishment is the near enemy and Islam is the far enemy.

Our name needs to reflect both enemies. Since we dissent from the dogma of the Establishment and Islam, the name “dissident” fulfills our needs. It also pays homage to the brave dissidents of the Soviet era. If you agree, start calling ourselves dissidents.

Watch Bill Warner's 2-minute video on this word here: Dissident.
