Halt Terrorism — The Top Seven Things a Citizen Can Do
Sunday
Much of the work of fighting terrorism is done by governments, security agencies, and the military. But there are practical things an ordinary citizen can do to make a significant difference in defeating terrorism. If you're ready to do your part, here are the top seven ways a citizen can help halt terrorism. Each principle links to an article about it.
1. Be observant and report suspicious activities. First you need to learn what to look for. Then you can use your eyes and ears as you go about your daily activities. If you know what to look for, being observant doesn't mean being paranoid. Most activities are not suspicious. But a few specific kinds of activities are. Follow the link above to find out what those are, and then...be observant.
2. Share DVDs with your friends. This may be the most useful thing you can do. It is such a simple and natural thing to say something like, "I saw a really interesting film last night." And then talk about one of the most interesting or surprising things in the film. When the person you're talking to is interested, you can say, "I own it on DVD. Would you like to borrow it?" This is a great way to get valuable information into the heads of the other members of your country. The ideas in their heads has a significant impact on how successfully we collectively fight terrorism; it determines what policies and which politicians they vote for. Go to the link above for our suggested DVDs to share.
3. Steer conversations to the topic of terrorism. Improve your ability to start casual conversations and gently open those conversations to the topic of terrorism, and improve your ability to do it in a way that prevents others from being turned off by it. Terrorism can be an ugly and scary subject if not approached in the right way. Influencing opinions is a vital task you can do to fight terrorism. Ideas and opinions are the driving force behind world events. You can change someone's opinion about terrorism, but you must first be talking about terrorism. Follow the link above and begin today.
4. Learn more about influencing people. Once you have someone in a conversation, how can you change their opinions? How can you successfully influence them? This is also a skill you can improve with know-how and practice. Skill can win people to a new way of thinking. A lack of skill can entrench them more solidly in their old way of thinking. Skill is all-important, and it can be improved, no matter how good you are already. Follow the link above and get started.
5. When you find a good article online, share it. This is one of the easiest ways to make a difference. If you do it well, you can enhance the impact of what you share. Follow the link for some good tips on how to do it well.
6. Help people see the URL WhatYouCanDoAboutIslam.com. The domain name goes to our master list of things you can do. Add the domain address to your email signature. Print it on business cards and post them on bulletin boards. Get a bumper sticker with the address on it. Not everyone is interested in the topic, but those who are will be curious when they see the URL, and you've just sent them to a good resource. Another one to send people to, which has been especially designed as a gentle introduction to Islam is InquiryIntoIslam.com.
7. Take the pledge and read the Koran. There are many good reasons for doing this. First of all, you will find out for yourself what Islam is about. But also, when you're talking to other people, you'll have an authority others just don't have when it comes to Islam. Anyone can read it. Follow the link above to get a good recommendation for a modern-English version (many versions are written in Old English for some reason, which isn't very easy to read). Take the pledge and do it.
And read about Islam. Become familiar with the subject. Read The Sword of the Prophet and The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (two of my favorites). There are many to choose from. Not all books are created equal. When you find a really good one, get it in an audio format and listen to it while you drive. This way you can easily listen to the same material many times. When you share information or perspectives with someone, you have a good opportunity to really illuminate the subject for them. If you have only a vague understanding of something you read only once, you'll find it hard to be lucid or convincing, and you'll fail to persuade. Part of persuasion is knowing what you're talking about. The other part is skill with people.
You want to do something about terrorism. You want to halt the terrorists in their tracks. Excellent! Choose one of the seven ideas above — the one that appeals to you the most — and do it. On behalf of all of us, I thank you for your intention and effort.
In the comments below, I have added other ways a citizen can help halt terrorism, and I will keep adding them as I get new information. I encourage you to add to the list yourself.

Citizen Warrior,
Excellent suggestions! I try share DVD's as often as I can. I've found that people are more willing to view DVD's than to read books, perhaps because of time constraints or because we live in such a screen-oriented world today.
The DVD's I most often share are Obsession and Islam: What the West Needs to Know. I find that those just catching on need to see Obsession first, digest that info, then proceed to the second DVD I mentioned.
I've alienated a few people, including some of my former clients, with Suggestion 4. But, overall, I've alienated fewer than I've awakened.
Excellent post! You are now blogrolled at my site.
Your site is truly amazing!
You have helped me so much in my journey towards awareness. Your site is an invaluable aid in our global war against Islamist terror.
I am very interested to learn more about memes, and 'The World under Fire', map is now on my sidebar.
My husband has produced some variations on the London bus propaganda as well!
Thanks again.
Great job on this post and the site. It is a great educational resource with lots of practical suggestions on how to spread the word about this global scourge of terrorism.
Also, Haltterrorism.com is a great URL to use for this purpose. Please keep up the good work and stay safe. Thank you!

Here's another practical thing you can do to halt terrorism:
Citizen Warriors Unite Against Internet Jihadis
Another thing you can do to stop the political encroachment or violent attacks of jihad in the U.S. is to support the Mapping Sharia Project.
The Mapping Shari'a Project sends trained people into mosques in the U.S. to find out whether or not they call for jihad. In other words, do they urge their followers to follow the strict teachings of Islam, including the call to undermine the United States government and to eventually overthrow it. The majority of the mosques they've investigated so far (over a hundred in the U.S.) do just that.
To advocate jihad is sedition, and anyone doing so in the U.S. ought to be imprisoned or deported. When the Mapping Shari'a Project finds a mosque advocating jihad against the United States, they give that information to law enforcement officials.
To listen to the president of the Society of Americans for National Existence (SANE), David Yerushalmi, explain the Mapping Shari'a Project to Michael Savage, click on the link below and the audio program will begin playing. It is about 13 minutes long.
Click here to listen to the interview with David Yerushalmi.
And if you'd like to help support this important work, go here: How you can help.
A little while ago I heard about an organization that handed out the movie, Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West, to hundreds of delegates at the Democratic Convention in Denver because they think the democrats in general somewhat ignore the creeping Islamization of the U.S.
The organization that gave away the DVDs is called, fittingly enough, Watch Obsession. They've decided to fight against the Islamic political encroachment by promoting the movie, Obsession.
As you probably know, I recommend the movie also. I have loaned my copy to most of my friends. I think it's a great way to give someone an authoritative overview of the problem, and to introduce them to key Islamic principles like Shari'a law and taqiyya (religious deception).
So in my constant search to find ways civilians can help thwart Jihadis who are trying to invade and defeat democracy, I give you this: Sign up to volunteer your time and/or money to help the organization, Watch Obsession.
I came across Citizen Warrior accidentally and am so-o-o-o impressed! Finally a web site that gives ideas for ways we ordinary folks can help. Love the ideas of calling cards, typing haltterrorism.com under my name on e-mails, getting a t-shirt with the URL on it, etc. I have been reading everything I can find and talking to folks, but your ideas give me more ideas. Keep up the vital work. Thanks
Thank you, Anonymous. When you come up with an idea that is not here, please come back and leave it as a comment for the rest of us. Thank you in advance.
Very nice work here, keep it up!!
Quran. Surah The Pilgrimage or Hajj
verse 46 to 51.
46. Do they not travel through the land, so that their hearts (and mind) may thus learn wisdom and their ears may thus learn to hear? Truly it is not their eyes that are blind, but their hearts which are in their breasts..........................51. "But those who strive against Our Signs, to frustrate them, -they will be Companions of the Fire."
I've read your excellent essay"the terrifying memeplex of Islam."(I think that's the title)and thank you for that.
The sad thing is that memeplexed
muslims are refractory to anything that criticises their demented belief.
However, they are sensitive to ridicule as shown by inane death threats.
Keep chipping away!

I would like to declare June 27 as burn a tire day! Down with crap and tax.
The film Fitna which can be watched on-line is very revealing and frightening, but all on this site should watch it and pass it on and I can say no more than that, watch it and pass it on. Scary!
Unfortunately, many of the methods you suggest simply don't work in this overly pc, multi-culti society, particularly with an administration bent on becoming subservient to the "Muslim world" and willing to prosecute non-Muslims who speak out against Islamic supremacy and terrorism...
Anonymous, my prescription for you is to read Jihadism and Defeatism Are Ideas Whose Time Has Come And Gone.
HOW TO STOP ISLAMIC TERRORISTS...... it worked once in Philippines History...
Once in U.S. history an episode of Islamic terrorism was very quickly stopped. It happened in the Philippines in 1911, when Gen. John J. Pershing was in command of a small garrison. There had been numerous Islamic killings against the population, so "Black Jack" told his men to catch some of them and teach them a lesson.
Forced to dig their own graves, the terrorists were all tied to posts, execution style. The U.S. soldiers then brought in pigs and slaughtered them, rubbing their bullets in the blood and fat. Thus, the terrorists were terrorized; they saw that they would be contaminated with hogs' blood. This would mean that they could not enter Heaven, even if they died as terrorist martyrs.
All but one was shot, their bodies dumped into the grave, and the hog guts dumped atop the bodies. The lone survivor was allowed to escape back to the islamist camps and tell his brethren what happened to the others. This brought a stop to terrorism in the Philippines for the next 50 years.
Whatever happened to old fashioned just crushing you're enemy?
If it were only that simple. Yes, ISIS can be crushed. Al Qaeda can be crushed. But the ideology still exists in over a billion minds, published in billions of copies of the Koran. How do you "crush" that? What we have come to accept over the years is that the only way to ultimately defeat Islam is to awaken a large portion of the non-Muslims of the world to the nature of Islamic doctrine, essentially immunizing them from being fooled by Muslim-generated disinformation. The ideology could then be marginalized and discredited, much as the KKK's and the Nazi's ideology is today. It would still exist, but everyone would be aware of its distasteful aspects and it would not grow very easily, the national security services would monitor its activities, immigration from Muslim countries would cease, etc.
The crushing of Islamic military forces is the job of the military. The military leaders' will and ability to do what they can do is limited by public opinion. So again, the most important task is to awaken enough people so that public opinion supports undiluted military action against Islamic forces.
Well if the old saying "history repeats itself is true then we are in for some huge problems. People in Germany didn't take Hitler serious and look what happened. He came to power and went on a rampage. we all know the rest. Are we going to sit in rooms like this and type fancy essays about what should be done or are we going to literally going to kick them in the gonads and take them down fast before they can really strike the first blow. It's obvious they mean to bring us great harm. Talking to these people is far from out of the question. Dealing with Iran is a mistake and that guy in the white house that the left media is afraid to criticize is deluded. Whoever is giving him advice needs to help us and work for the enemy. The guy he works for gives me the impression he is. I don't know many Arabs but I'm under the impression that they don't respect weakness and they definitely take kindness for weakness. Only one way to deal whith this, sorry to say. THey laughed at Billy Mitchell when he warn of an imminent attack from Japan. He did this 14yrs before the y snuck attacked us at Pearl Harbor. Have we not learned anything from the past?
We don't persecute human beings here. We talk about Islamic doctrine. Read these three and then tell me what you think:
